P1 (Packet One) and China Mobile have inked a cooperation agreement for TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution) promotion in Malaysia and South-East Asia, according to a June 28, 2011 press release by P1. As per the agreement, the two companies will jointly promote TD-LTE as a global standard, promote Global TD-LTE Initiative in South-East Asia, and launch TD-LTE service in Malaysia. It is reported that P1 plans to transfer its WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) network to a dual WiMAX/TD-LTE network by the first half of 2012.
